Bigg Boss is an Indian reality TV show that was broadcasted on Sony Entertainment Television in November 2006. The show was a great success with the households as the concept of reality TV show was relatively new to India and there were many celebrities that participated.

Concept of Bigg Boss Season 1

Bigg Boss 1 started airing on the Indian television on 3 November 2006. The contestants, who were termed as ‘Housemates’, had to live in one house which was built for this show. The house was built at a secluded spot, and the contestants had to stay away from family and friends for until they were part of the show. In Bigg Boss Season 1, the housemates had to nominate two people among them to be evicted. The housemates who received the majority votes were to face public voting. Eventually, depending on the votes, one of the housemates was evicted.

At the end when only three housemates were left in Bigg Boss 1, the decision was left to the public to vote out who should be the winner. During the course of Bigg Boss Season 1, many tasks were assigned to the housemates that they had to complete.

Besides being an entertainer, Bigg Boss 1 created a lot of curiosity in the minds of the viewers of all ages. The major reason for this curiosity was the assignment of tasks to the housemates which was sometimes difficult to perform and how so many people from different backgrounds can stay together at one house. Due to this reason, Bigg Boss 1 was very successful.

The famous Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi was Bigg boss 1 host for the Bigg Boss Season 1. With his comic timing and excellent hosting, he maintained viewers’ interest in the show. On 26 January 2007, almost 12 weeks after the launch of Bigg Boss 1, former actor Rahul Roy emerged as Bigg boss 1 winner, while other Bigg boss 1 contestants Carol Gracias and Ravi Kissen were the first and second runner ups respectively.
